Project Background
In Yogyakarta, Andon and Asri tried to fight for the rights of 1965 survivors under the banner of FOPPERHAM. Together with Pandit and other volunteers, they are trying to find and record victim narratives that have not been revealed until now. Apart from that, they are also preparing a memorialization of sites of violence and human rights violations in Yogyakarta and its surroundings. However, currently, several students who volunteer have graduated from college. FOPPERHAM’s homework is increasing and requires more active volunteers. Andon and Asry are planning to get additional volunteers through recruiting volunteers.
Two young people in East Nusa Tenggara live in a refugee camp. Egy has lived in Tuapukan Refugee Camp for 20 years, and Aby has lived in Nolebaki Camp since 1999. They and several other young people have collected data on refugees in the two camps to continue their struggle to obtain citizenship rights. Apart from collecting data, they also manage people’s schools, which are educational facilities for children in refugee camps. However, over time, fewer young people joined their efforts. They also tried to bring together youth from the three refugee camps to attract more youth to join their movement.
Two regions with different problem settings have the same common thread in fighting for humanity and human rights.
