School of Seeing
School of Seeing / (Sek)Olah Pandang offers a unique long-term workshop for filmmakers and film lovers, that requires participants to watch 12 films and review each film’s artistic/cinematic strategy. This workshop encourages participants to step outside of their comfort zone and limitation to expand their perspectives, ways to tell stories and to explore the diversity of artistic/cinematic strategies from world cinema.
IT IS A UNIQUE WORKSHOP THAT ACCEPTS PARTICIPANTS WITH ALL BACKGROUNDS AND EXPERIENCES. NOTHING DISCRIMINATES THE ENROLLMENT OF THIS WORKSHOP EXCEPT THE COMMITMENT OF THE PARTICIPANTS TO WATCH AND WRITE.
In the first edition of School of Seeing in 2018, for 6 months 12 documentary films were viewed and analyzed by the participants. A small group of reviewers consisting of film critics: Lisabona Rahman, Adrian Jonathan (Cinema Poetica), and Anggraeni W (Forum Lenteng), will provide feedback to participants’ analysis every month. At the end of the program, those who completed the assignments are invited to a special workshop with our mentors, such as DS Nugraheni, Tommy Fahrizal, Lisabona Rahman, and Sebastian Winkels, where they meet and discuss their experiences and the projects that they are working on.
